3rd of 3 experiments using double-layer paint and artificially shortened drying time!

Title: "New Hope #63"

Size/support:  Tempera on 18" X 24" studio-wrapped, stretched canvas

Work date:  2008

Edges are staple-free and painted light blue.  COA included; signed and dated on the reverse. Front signed at client's request. Finished with 4 coats of clear gloss varnish.

Painted twice?

Yup! This is the sixty-third offering in this series of breast-to-canvas artworks.  The design was painted directly onto my breasts, which were then pressed onto the canvas.  This process was repeated several times, using different color combinations, until I was pleased with the final composition. Once it was dry, I painted over it again and sped up the drying time using a fan. I wasn't sure what to expect when I attempted this. All I knew was that it would crackle, but I had no real control over it aside from knowing to put contrasting colors over each other for the nicest effect. Please note that while the crackling makes the painting slightly more fragile, I compensate by varnishing 2 extra times for added protection. This series is intended to be intimate, whimsical, and fun (and an interesting conversation piece).
