The canvas was human-primed with blue, yellow, and red paint which was dried, then sanded before Koopa painted. The painting continues around the staple-free edges of the canvas. Here are a few progress photos to demonstrate how Koopa paints:
Every gorgeous detail was created through Koopa's natural walking motion. He is not coerced, assisted, or guided in any way during the painting process. Koopa is under no stress when he paints. The slippery texture is just like mud to him and it is equally safe.
