"Forever Young #3"
Original artwork created entirely with TOYS!

The "Forever Young" series incorporates various remote-controlled, wind-up, and battery-operated toys to apply paint to the canvas. The canvas is not touched by human hands or "traditional" painting tools throughout the entire painting process.

Title: "Forever Young #3"

Size/support:  Tempera on 18" X 24" studio-wrapped, stretched canvas

Work date:  2008

Edges are staple-free and painted lavender.  COA included; signed and dated on the reverse. Front signed at buyer's request - please specify preferred hanging orientation when sending payment. Finished with 2 coats of clear gloss varnish.

This is the third offering from this series.

"Forever Young #3" utilizes a multi-step process to transfer the paint to the canvas. First, the canvas was primed and allowed to dry. Next, I used 6 wind-up toys to paint the top layer in contrasting colors. These toys were dipped in paint, wound up, and placed on the canvas pointed in various directions. I gave them different starting points, with different colors until I was pleased with the final composition.

Here are the "artists":

The lobster was pretty much useless, but the other 5 toys each produced a distinctive pattern. The crab walked sideways and made thick, gradually fading bands. The dinosour, zebra, and ram made parallel tracks in different widths. The caterpiller left behind long, thin streaks of paint.

This series is intended to be whimsical and fun (and an interesting conversation piece).

This original painting consists of an array of colors (including metallics) that would go well in almost any setting.  Here are some close-up views of this artwork:
